From May 1 until May 4, 2017, Boston was the setting for the annual Red Hat Open Summit. Bringing together the largest group of customers, partners and community enthusiasts to learn, network and experience the open source platform, the summit is one of the biggest in its kind, showcasing the latest and greatest in cloud computing, platform, virtualization, middleware, storage and systems management technologies. Evidently, Nubera cloud specialists followed this too. And here’s what got them excited.

 1) Red Hat announcing OpenShift.io

Red Hat OpenShift.io is a free, online development environment optimized for creating cloud-native, container-based applications. Enterprises compete through software innovations, so rapidly building and scaling applications is critical. OpenShift.io enables digital transformation with an end-to-end application development environment, requiring no installation and addressing all development phases.

Combining the innovations of several open source projects, including fabric8, Jenkins and Eclipse Che, Red Hat OpenShift.io delivers application development tools and environments needed to help organizations maintain relevancy in a digitally transforming marketplace. Designed for development teams, whether in the same building or across the globe, to more effectively collaborate and create containerized, microservices-based solutions, deployed to hybrid cloud environments.

Key features:

  • Hosted, integrated toolchain
  • Planning tools for managing and prioritizing work
  • Code editing and debugging tools built on Eclipse Che
  • Integrated and automated CI/CD pipelines
  • Dashboards and reporting tools

2) Amazon integration in OpenShift

Red Hat and Amazon Web Services announced an extended strategic alliance to natively integrate access to AWS services into Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. Through this unique offering, Red Hat will make AWS services accessible directly within Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, allowing customers to take advantage of the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud, whether they’re using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform on AWS or in an on-premises environment.

3) Ansible in the picture

Similar to Nubera, Red Hat believes automation is an essential and strategic component of modernization and digital transformation. A growing number of organizations around the world are standardizing on Ansible as their automation framework. By bringing Ansible automation across its portfolio - including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat Storage, and its management offerings, Red Hat will be able to deliver strategic automation technology to enterprises.

With Ansible automation integration in Red Hat Insights, its predictive analytics and actionable intelligence platform, Red Hat is enabling automated resolution of critical security risks by dynamically creating Ansible Playbooks.

The latest version of Red Hat CloudForms takes an industry-first Ansible automation-based approach to multi-cloud management, natively supporting Ansible Playbooks to make it easier to deploy IT services across clouds, enabling users to automate a wide range of policies and processes with no coding or scripting required.
